Besides being popular for its beauty, Haad Than Sadet (Royal River in Thai) is also an important sacred place. The beach also possesses historical significance which dates way back to the 18th century, when it has been visited by several Thai kings – their Majesties Rama V, VII and IX, carved their initials on the huge granite rocks nearby. The
King Rama V especially impressed by the magical powers and grandeur of nature visited this place no less than 14 times.
The beach also is home to Than Sadet - Koh Phangan National Park that is located at the mouth of the valley Khlong Than Sadet river flowing between high green hills and forming the largest waterfall of the island. A great place for trekking and discovering the flora and fauna of Koh Phangan, the park is a popular attraction and free of charge for international visitors.
As for accommodation, Haad Than Sadet Beach has a some hotels with a bohemian bungalows in Thai style scattered on the granite hillside and on the often deserted beach. The most of resorts are based high above the sandy beach and offer simply the best view over the ocean and the bay.  Getting to Haad Than Sadet Beach
|
 The important historical site, Haad Than Sadet is located on the East coast of Koh Phangan island. You can get Than Sadet by car (4x4) or motorbike (recommended only for experienced drivers/riders and when weather is dry!), but the journey to the beach is almost less enjoyable than the beach itself.
Between mid January to late October there is a boat service from Thong Nai Pan beach to Koh Samui. The ferry leaves Thon Nai Pan Yai at 09am and will drop at Haad Than Sadet at 09.20am. Also you can rent longtail boat to reach the beach from Full Moon Party.
There is a hiking route from Than Sadet to Thon Nai Pan Yai beach for an adventure travellers. |

 You will find a some sun-beds in front of the beach restaurant with breathtaking sea views. The mat or beach towel is everything you need on white sandy beach to kick back and enjoy the tropical island life. There are not ATMs, so stock your cash in advance. J.S. Hut Bungalows's reception also offers money exchange and a small shop. The electricity comes from generators that are switched off at the night time. |

Haad Than Sadet Beach Restaurants & Food |
 Eating on the beach with your foot in the sand or on the hillside with fantastic sea views you will choose from when it comes to dine in Haad Than Sadet. Mai Pen Rai Bungalows has the restaurant right on the sandy beach with a relaxed atmosphere and good music which serves traditional Thai and Western Food. There is always an abundant supply of fresh seafood and daily specials often include freshly caught fish from around Than Sadet waters - Barracuda, Tuna Fish, Spanish Mackerel, Red and White Snapper and Queen Fish. The kitchen is well stocked to provide an extensive and delicious menu for all tastes including vegetarians. Next to the restaurant is Reggae bar, offering an interesting and fun spot, especially in the evenings, surrounded by the sounds of frogs and crickets, and a great place to watch the stars.
 The restaurant at Silver Cliff Bungalow is its finest feature. Perched on top of the cliff with impressive views of the beach and the sea, it offers reasonably priced food and drinks in a laid back & relaxed atmosphere.
Plaa's Than Sadet is the bungalows in Haad Than Sadej Beach on Koh Phangan's Est coast. This budget property has a restaurant with a large terrace facing East which is viewpoint itself and offers the best seaviews in Than Sadet beach area especially in the wee hours. You can enjoy a various selection of Thai and Western cuisines at Plaa's Restaurant from 08:00-22:00 hrs. The restaurant is well known to serve the most delicious food at Than Sadet and the menu has a wide variety of dishes to offer. This is the perfect place to chill high above the worst of the tropical heat and enjoy cheap Beer Chang or Singha.
