Snuggled into the headland south of Haad Yao, Haad Son is a stunningly beautiful beach on the west coast of Koh Phangan. Many consider it paradise with aquamarine water, idyllic beach, romantic sunsets and a serene island-style atmosphere.
This 100-metre long beach enjoys regular return visitors in high season and, as it has only two hotels, including luxury Haad Son Resort and series of rudimentary bungalows.
Haad Son Beach is to the southwest of Haad Yao and is reached by going south along the main road and taking a left turn at the Haad Son resort that leads to the beach. |

How to Get to Haad Son beach
|
Haad Son Beach is to the southwest of Haad Yao and you will have no problem finding a taxi in Thong Sala to take you to Haad Son. Alternative Haad Son resort offers a free pick-up service from/to Thong Sala pier. Otherwise taxi fare should be 200 baht/per one way. Around the beach you also can rent a motorbike or car.
There are two ways to ride Haad Son beach:
- from Thonsala along Koh Phangan west coast. This way is more tiresome;
- the road starts from Thong Sala's Tesco Lotus. Follow the road and turn left at T-intersection to Sri Thanu village. Next T-junction (with fresh fruit market and 7-eleven on it) turn right. Continue straight till red-white sign 'Haad Son, Koh Raham Restaurant, Massage, Spa'. This easy way is the more free traffic and the most short.

Haad Son Beach Facilities

Sun loungers and hammocks for use by guests of Haad Son resort is dotted Koh Raham, a tiny tip(islet) with the most breathtaking sea views.
For many, the charm of Haad Son is its uncomplicated natural attractiveness. There are no sun beds or umbrellas for hire; no beach vendors to disturb you. Make sure to take your own towels/deck chairs to sit on. |

Haad Son Beach Restaurants & Food

The Koh Raham Restaurant & Bar is the main dinin venue and a cool attractions of Haad Son beach.
Featuring a dining terrace facing West and a large circular bar in tropical style with thatched roof, Koh Raham serving authentic Thai cuisine and International dishes offers a memorable dining experience and is the perfect place for a romantic dinner under a star tropical sky.
The other place to eat you'll find right on the beach at Secret Beach Bungalows. The Secret Beach resataurant and bar with free wi-fi (for custemer only) is a cheerful place at Haad Son with good, cheap cuisine and an international bohemian atmosphere. It serves food and drinks from breakfast to late in the evening.
Five minutes away in nearby Haad Yao (Long) beach, the scope of meals ranges through eating snacks bought from the 7-eleven to dining at the numerous beachfront and roadside restaurants.

Haad Son Beach Activities
|
There’s rather good snorkelling along the base of the Koh Raham that overlooks the beach. The actual underwater life itself is splendidly tranquil around the reef. It is not advised to swim here between May and November. You can rent a mask and fins on the beach (80 Bath/hour). Kayaking is a perfect eco-friendly way to discover the nearest beaches and shores (rental fee 100 Bath/hour).
What better location could there be for a Thai massage than on the beach? Readily available and excellent value for money, the masseuses are set up in the shaded 'Raham massage'sala (from 250 Bath/hour). Other types of massage and reflexology are also available. |
