Forget about the beach, when you are in Ao Hin Kong. Expect to see a long narrow stretch of undeveloped sand coastline with mangrove trees and an army of fishing boats on the sea skyline. The continuation of Ao Wok Tum, Ao Hin Kong has the same characteristics and nuance that attracts a handful repeat visitors, mostly from Europe.
Depending on the weather and time of the year Ao Hin Kong has some fascinating changes. During the low tide the whole bay is a sad sight with sand dunes and muddy waters where the locals wander in search of crustaceans and other sea creatures. This bay is good for kayaking, and from November to March when strong winds come this bay becomes a popular spot for kite-boarders and wind surfers.
Hinkong also is home to Ananda Wellness Resort with detox and purification programmes, yoga and massage classes, herbal sauna and vegan restaurant. Ao Hin Kong Beach is a sleepy west coast location dotted with budget hotels, bungalows, top-end villas for rent and Buddhist temples. Most Hin Kong accommodations offer landscaped beachfront gardens paired with dramatic sunsets. |
