Travel Guide for Baan Kai Beach
|
Baan Kai Beach has stretched a short of sandy strips from Haad Rin hills and is home to a small village lying half way between Thong Sala and FMP beach. Baan Kai is a great destination especially if you are looking for solitude or want to enjoy Koh Samui views in good weather. The beach is not wide and between coconut plantations, conveniently scattered numerous hotels, villas and bungalows.
In Thai, Baan Kai means "village camping", so named because in the days when the tin miners used to spend their nights. Of course these days you will not find here tin and the area around the beach is still quiet and rustic feel, encourage them to put up a tent near the shore. The stream cuts the beach into two halves, setting the border between Baan Kai and Baan Tai beaches.
Despite the fact that the brook can detect a certain amount of garbage and ruins, most of the beach is clean and very attractive. Coarse sand is a little rough, and the shore in some places is narrow, especially at the east end where near a small rocky promontory, nestled Chantaramas Resort.
Big waves are very rare and you can swim in all year long, despite the fact that water is very shallow. A coral reef lies 200 metres off the beach, and at low tide (April to November) season, the snorkelling here is not always available. |
