 Thong Sala is the capital of Koh Phangan and here you will find hotels, banks, super-markets, government offices, food markets, shops, restaurants, bars and much more, as well as Thongsala the main sea gate of the island with few piers where the Lomprayah catamarans, boats and ferries linking Thongsala to the mainland and neighbouring Koh Tao island and Koh Samui.
Thong Sala, after Haad Rin beach has long played second fiddle on Koh Phangan as central party place, although most travellers consider the town as a transit point, before throwing to theirs favorite beach. But over the years Thongsala has developed enough and now island's capital filled with excellent shopping, wonderful restaurants, along with colorful daily Pantip food market. The city also is the main administrative and financial center of Koh Phangan having the post office, banks, hospital, school, police department and more. Several bars jumped so now here broadcast premier league football and even a fully fledged English pub serving throughout the day a delicious breakfasts.
From Thong Sala is easily accessible by roads to many popular Koh Phangan beaches, but if you prefer a sea cruise, you can rent a long-tail taxi or speed boat and take a trip to any beach on the island. In Thongsala are few banks, five on the main street and two on Post Office road; ATM you will find practically on every corner. The hospital is located 4 km from the town, although the town has private medical clinic and several pharmacies. Koh Phangan police Department is located in Chaloklum Road, one kilometre from Thongsala. |
