Getting to The Sanctuary beach

A small Haad Thian East Beach is located on Koh Phangan's East coast in 5 km from Haad Rin Nok. A normally, the most of visitors choose the boat ride to reach The Sanctuary beach from Haad Rin (FMP). Travel time is 15 min; The trip price - 250 Bath/per for one way. If the waves are too high for sea travel you can reach the beach by car is 4×4 pickup-taxi using the main dirt road from Baan Tai when the weather is dry, however check with locals beforehand. If you are very experienced rider rent a motorbike to get Haad Thian East beach.
The easiest way to get to The Sanctuary, between mid January to late October, is on the Thong Nai Pan ferry boat. This ferry departs from Mae Nam town (not the pier) on Koh Samui every day at 12 noon and brings you directly to Had Tien Bay (get off at the second stop Had Tien Bay). The journey is approx one hour.
For adventurous travellers there is also a hiking path from Haad Rin that starts near Laluna Bungalow. Be prepared for a difficult climb up the hill, down the path through the forest and then down the slope to Haad Yuan beach and next a short walk via the rocky headland to the Sanctuary. At crosstrails notice the trees, they are marked with paint where to go. The whole journey takes about two hours.

Haad Thian East Beach Restaurants & Food

A healthy diet is something they take seriously at The Sanctuary. The tree-house-style beachfront restaurant serves a vegetarian and seafood fare and and titbits in between! Expect to try traditional Thai cuisine and scrumptious vegetarian dishes from around the world. The dining venue bake a selection of fresh cakes and whole-meal bread daily. No M.S.G. or preservatives are used in their cooking. Fully stocked bar features a vast array of beers, spirits, imported wines and cocktails; as well as a large selection of herbal teas, shakes and fruit juices.
An other good choice is Horizon restaurant located on the headland above the Sanctuary beach. Whith an amazing seaviews and сooled by fresh breezes, this restaurant serves delicious Thai food, seafood and Western favorites.

The restaurant in Thai style at Love Lip Resort is known for its authentic recipes of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. Beam Bungalow offers good food with fresh ingredients, and they feature a quiet, tranquil space to hang out in. Had Thien Resort has a peaceful eatery serving Thai food at friendly prices with great views onto the beach.
Also you will find remarkable selections of food and drinks on the neighbouring beaches like as Haad Yuan and Haad Wai Nam. |

Among the sunbathing, swimming and kayaking in the ocean, depending on your inclination and budget, you can do as much or as little as you like. Be prepared to spend your time sweating out toxins in yoga classes and a lovely spa, where treatments are included in the price, as well as fasting, meditation and Thai cooking classes; colonic therapy – and, for those brave enough, belly-dancing. Don’t be surprised to come across seemingly normal lads on a mission to lose weight, or becoming obsessed with their colonics. There is a Friday night Dance party on Haad Tien East beach. It starts around 11pm and ends around 11am on Saturday.
Muay Thai, or Thai boxing, attracts numerous travellers to Thailand, and many of them searching to practice in Koh Phangan. Horizon Training Camp placed on the cliff to the south of Haad Thian is the most remote and tranquil Muay Thai camp on Koh Phangan and recommended only for boxing trainees.
