To get to Koh Chang, you first need to get to Trat province by air, bus or car and already there will take a ferry to the island from one of the three piers.
Koh Chang in Thai language means "elephant island", the largest among the 52 Islands. Koh Chang is a beautiful beaches, coral reefs and abundant marine life.

Getting There by Plane |
Bangkok Airways runs to Trat daily from Suvarnabhumi International airport, 2 times a day in low season and 3 times higher season and also once a day from Koh Samui.
The flight time is 55 minutes. Estimated cost - 2500 Bath. Trat Airport is located 18 km from Ao Thammachat pier and 30 km Laem Ngob Pier. Trat airport is about 60 km from Laem Sork Pier.

How to Get to Koh Chang by Car |
From Bangkok to Trat can be reached by three main routes:
- highway No. 3 (Bangna-Trad) through Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi. Total distance is 385 kilometers.
- another way: first use highway No. 3 (Bangna-Trad), then turn left onto road No. 344 (Chonburi-Baan Bung-Klaeng). Upon reaching Klaeng, turn left to highway No. 3. Further via Chanthaburi to Trat. The full distance is 315 km.

Buses from Bangkok to Trat operated from Eastern bus terminal (Ekamai), every hour from 04:00 until 24:00.
From the Northern bus terminal (Morchid) 08:30, 09:30, 12:30, 15:30, 17:30, 23:00. The journey time is 5 hours. Also from this Bus terminal to Trat run comfortable minibuses, starting from 05:00. The journey time is 4 hours, the fare is 250 Bath. If you are traveling from Northern Thailand it is desirable to take the first ones (05:00). The following is at 07:30 (information 2014)

- From Suvarnabhumi International Airport to Koh Chang (during high season) daily three trips run: 07:50; 11:00; 14:00; counter is located on the ground floor near gate No. 8. The ticket price is 300 Bath.
- In addition you can get to Laem Ngob pier by buses run from Ekamai bus terminal in Bangkok. These buses leave twice a day, at 7:45 and 9:45. Back to Bangkok buses start at 14:00 and 16:00. The journey time is about 5 hours. The fare is 220 to 250 baht.
- Also, directly to the ferry pier minibuses depart from Khao San road. You can order the transfer to your hotel or by local tour operators in Bangkok and Pattaya .

- the price for a private transfer from Trat airport to Laem Sork Pier by car or minibus 1600 THB in one direction.
- the price for a private transfer from Suvarnabhumi airport to Trat or to Laem Sork Pier by car or minibus 6800 THB in one direction.

How to Get to Koh Chang from Pattaya or Koh Samet |
From Pattaya daily micro-buses run through Ban Phe village (ferry pier to Koh Samed) to Center Point Pier in Laem Ngop. Minivans leave Pattaya at 08.00, the ticket price is 400 Bath (500 Bath including ferry ticket) and about 300 Bath from Ban Phe Village (travel time from 3 to 4 hours).
However, you can use the buses with air conditioning and without air conditioning through Chantaburi, then change to another bus and go to Trat bus station. From Koh Chang to Pattaya via Koh Samet (Ban Phe village) minibuses operated at 11:00; 12:30 and 15:30. The trip price to Koh Samet including ferry ticket - 750 Bath. |

From Trat to Koh Chang |
If you arrive in Trat to Bus station or to Central city market you need to catch ‘songtaew' (pick-up taxi) to one of the three ferry piers, ticket costs 50 baht, or pay 200 baht (total) to rent it privately. There are three piers, Ao Thammachat, Center Point and Lam Ngob piers. The best pier to get a ferry to Koh Chang from is Ao Thammachat because it takes the least time (around 20 minutes). |

Ferries to Koh Chang |
There are two ferry companies running regular services to Koh Chang from piers on the mainland. These are ‘Ferry Koh Chang’ and ‘Centrepoint Ferry’ that run from piers about 5Km apart near the village of Laem Ngop. The ferries dock on Koh Chang at two different points. Ferry Koh Chang has the shortest crossing and heads to Ao Sapporot pier on the northeast coast of the island whereas Centrepoint ferry moors at their pier in Dan Kao, a few of kilometres south.
During the rainy season both car and passenger ferries operate on the regular timetables if the weather permits it. |

Center Point ferry is the most frequently used ferry for travel between Trat city and Koh Chang island. Ao Thammachat ferry caters for passengers and vehicles. Depending on the ferry and time of year, a ticket will cost between 70 and 100 baht per person. |

Wooden boats depart every hour from 9.00 to 17.00. The passenger fare for a round trip costs approximately 100 baht. Call: 039 538 084 for more information.
There are no regular boats from Trat (Laem Ngop) to Salak-Khok-Pier (Tha-Salak-Khok), Salak-Phet-Pier (Tha-Salak-Phet) and Bang-Bao-Pier (Tha-Bang-Bao) . To get to Salak Khok village and Salak Phet village take the boat from Laem-Ngop-Pier either at 13.00 to Dan-Mai-Pier or at 14.00 to Than-Mayom-Pier and from there further by local taxi. |

From Trat to Cambodia |
From Trat minibuses run to Ban Hat Lek daily every 45 min. Price for trip 100 Bath, travel time 1 hour. Minivans leave from Trat Bus station. To cross the border at Poi Pet (for visit Siam Reap and Angkor Wat), first you need by bus with air/cond. get to Chantaburi, ticket price 60 Bath, the journey time is 1h 50min. From there by bus without air/cond get to Aranya Prathet (travel time 3.5 hour ticket 77 Bath) and next by Tuk-Tuk for 50 Bath in 10 minutes you will be reach the border. |
