Highlights and Features |
There is a small Chinese shrine at the grounds of the wat that features striking carved Taoist gods, dragons, traditional Chinese paintings plus an outstanding red-gold-and-green colour theme. The shrine was built in 2014 and, as its name suggests, devoted to Kuan Im, the Goddess of Mercy in Taoist mythology (also known as Guanyin and Kannon). Her big image carved from a white marble is dominated here. |

There are lots of pictures of her in different acts and in a variety of sizes together with other deities. The most common image of her is the one in a white flowing robe wearing pearl necklaces.
Devotees who believe in her claim that part of her supernatural power is to grant fertility, therefore it is common to see her surrounded by statues of babies and little children. |

Behind a shrine you will find out structure of ubosot, the place where the monks do their the daily pray and there is the main Buddha image along with other, smaller Buddha images. The main ubosot (or temple hall) is in a very simple style. Just a short visit there about the strong connection between wats and the island's everyday life; Locals come to pray and Westerners come to learn something about Buddhism. An experience not to be missed. Good for those looking for a place to meditate. |
