How to Get to Koh Phangan
|
 Travel by a government bus from Bangkok is a good way to get to Koh Phangan.
Buses for the party island of Koh Pha Ngan depart from the Southern bus terminal in Bangkok (Sai Tai Taling Chan). Both government and private buses ply the route. Overall journey time is between 13 and 18 hours. The easiest way to make the long journey is by purchasing a combination bus-ferry ticket.
For you trip you can choose from two bus types; the regular bus which offers limited leg space and the VIP bus which offers a lot of leg space because it has less seats than the regular bus. The government bus will continue on the ferry to Koh Phangan so you can leave your luggage on the bus, saving you time and the hassle of changing transport. The government bus leaves from the Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok (Sai-Thai), where you must also buy the ticket.

From Phuket to Koh Phangan |
You can also catch a bus from Phuket to Surat Thani. The journey time from Phuket is approx 4 hours by bus. Phuket’s Bus Terminal 2 on Thepkasatri Road leading out of town is relatively new and handles all passengers coming to and leaving the island. As you enter the large building you will find ticket counters to the left and right to specific destinations. Air Conditioned buses to Surat Thani run daily leave Phuket at 07:30, 09:30 and arrive to Suratthani at 12:30, 14:30. Tickets available from the Bus Terminal (stops at Kao Lak and Kao Sok on Route). Ticket price is 170 Bath/one way.
An other way is Air Conditioned Mini Buses to Surat Thani depart from Phuket Town daily. Tickets Available Opposite Montree Hotel. Prices are non-negotiable. Air Conditioned Mini Bus from Phuket Town (opposite Montree Hotel) to Surat Thani:

- arrival time - 11:30, 13:30, 15:30, 17:30, 19:30, 21:30
