Koh Phangan Travel Information

 If You are traveling to Koh Phangan anyway get ready to step on board the ferry. Regular ferries run from Suratthani (mainland) to Koh Phangan, from Koh Phangan to Koh Tao, Koh Samui and Chumphon. You can purchase tickets and check the ferry timetable to Koh Phangan from many different tour operators across Thailand and also at the ferry pier itself. Several local companies offer regular boat and ferry schedule times to Koh Phangan, with the most popular are Seatran, Raja and Songserm express.
The ferry trip to Koh Phangan from Don Sak Pier (Suratthani) takes about 2-3 hours, depending on name company you choose to travel with. For many travellers to Koh Phangan, Donsak Pier, 65km east of Surat Thani, is their port of exit.
There is a bus service from Surat Thani town or Surat Thani Railway Station to Don Sak.
This port is also used if you are traveling by your own car. As you enter Donsak Pier you’ll come across a large car park where vehicles queue. Passengers alight here to purchase tickets at the booths in the terminus. All ferries have toilet facilities, along with a small shop on-board to purchase any snacks and drinks. Once on board the ferry to Koh Phangan you can walk around the boat if you like or sit down and relax.
Koh Phangan has two ferry piers. The main sea gate is in Thongsala port and this is where the majority of boats moor from Donsak, Samui and Koh Tao. If your port of landing is Koh Samui, you should double check when buying your ticket the route of the ferry and what pier you depart from and arrive into. There is a pier at Haad Rin and some ferries from Koh Samui dock here instead. |

Seatran Discovery |
 A ferry of Seatran Discovery cruise between Koh Samui, Koh Tao, Donsak (Surat Thani) and Koh Phangan. The trip duration between Koh Smaui and Koh Phangan is 30 minutes, and between Koh Tao and Koh Phangan is 1 hour and a half. Ticket price for one way: 450 Bath/adult, 225 Bath/child.

Raja Ferry |
 Raja Ferry Port is a service provider for ferry (Passengers and Cars) among Donsak, Koh Samui, and Koh Pha-ngan. Now Raja Ferry offers two ferry routes, from Don Sak to Ko Samui and from Donsak to Koh Pha Ngan and they also add more services with Bus transfer from both airport Surat thani and Nakornsrithammarat train station, included other destination such as Phuket, Krabi, Phang, Haad yai, Satun, Hua hin, Bangkok etc. Ticket can be purchased at all three Raja Ferry ports at Don Sak, Ko Samui and Ko Pha Ngan.
The Raja has 14 ferries which serve up to 40 trips in 2 routes which are Donsak-Koh Samui-Donsak, Donsak - Koh Phangan - Donsak.

Night Boat to Koh Phangan |
 Departing Phangan at 22:00, the Night Boat arrives to the mainland (Suratthani) at 04.00 and is a popular choice for VISA-RUN trips to Ranong as you can return the same day. On arrival at Suratthani you’ll find travel agents offering the return minibus service at a cost of around 1,500 Baht per person which will include boat transfer to and from the border. This service should have you back at the pier by around 16:00 at the latest. |
