 Thongsala Walking Street is easily the most popular shopping experience in Koh Phangan. A vibrant spectrum of art, crafts, music and food – with handmade quality goods and souvenirs that echo the spirit of Southern Thailand every saturday afternoon from 4pm. The old high street not far Pantip Food Market and ferry pier, know in Thong Sala as Taladkao road becomes a bustling walking street bazaar and as one of the most popular locals and tourist attractions in the town, it does get busy.
It really is worth a visit even if you're not planning on buying anything. The Saturday Walking Street serves as a venue for all kinds of local events, from dance recitals to beauty pageants and old Chinese street on either side lined a wide variety of shops, restaurants and bars where you can make stopping for a drink or some food. The road is closed to traffic during this time and walking street stay alive till 10p.m. |

|
 Head to the main pier (Lomprayah, Seatran, Raja) and face to 7-eleven, next walk to the right and about 5 min you are at the road. Another way if you are moving from Ban Tai, you can get the other end of Taladkao road near traffic light intersection with Home Mart. |

 The Thongsala Walking Street consists of countless stalls packed along the sidewalks and spilling out into the street. Here you can find vendors selling a range of items, including plenty of local products. The selection is simply staggering and items on offer include CDs, DVDs, clothes, shoes, Thai silk, handicrafts, purses, wallets, watches, luggage, housewares, spices, souvenirs, samurai swords, art, jewellery, silver, and a hundred other species of knick-knack and goo-gah that defy categorization. Quality varies from vendor to vendor but low prices mean you almost always get good value for your money. Remember that friendly bargaining is acceptable, especially if buying more than one product from a stall.

 Here, you can gorge on delicious boiled buttered corn on the cob, spicy sausages, =grilled chicken, sushi, homemade cakes, fishcakes, exotic fruit and even deep-fried insects. And of course you can wash your snack down with an ice-cold beer. For mid-spree snacking there are plenty of restaurants and bars in the vicinity where you can take a load off and review your purchases.
Take a stroll while sipping on fresh fruit juice, browsing handicrafts and snacking on random delicacies to the lilting accompaniment of traditional Thai and western music being played by street buskers. The Saturday Walking Street in Thong Sala will undoubtedly be a highlight of your trip. |
