 Bamboo beach, also known as Mai Phai is the southernmost beach on Koh Lanta west coast. Remote and perfect tropical paradise - this little bay offers travelers to experience that incredible feeling of a uninhabited island.
Mai Phai beach - from the Thai language means 'bamboo wood' but bamboo bushes you hardly will find here, instead of the northern end of the beach is decorated with coconut grove. Bamboo beach is in fact what Koh Lanta famous and here you must feel like a real Robinson Crusoe. |

 How to Get to Mai Phai beach
|
 Bamboo Bay (Mai Phai beach) is located in Koh Lanta's southwest coast and is 50 min by taxi from Ban Saladan ferry pier. Expect to pay under the full program! Some years ago was completed of the last section of the road stretching to Mu Ko Lanta National Park headquarters and now to get to Bamboo beach by motorbike very easy.
Ride by motorbike down to the shore is possible only in the northern end of the beach, near Bamboo Bay Resort. Steep way, sometimes turning into concrete, will get you to the beach. |

Bamboo bay has crystal clear water and beautiful white sand beach covered in the southern end of the large stone formations. Here are quiet and soft atmosphere, protected by high mountains covered by tropical evergreen forest. You will find in this place of Koh Lanta real pristine paradise.
The beach about a kilometer long enough spacious, taking the maximum width in the northern end. Because of the presence of a coral reef with both ends of the bay - prefer to swim in the middle of the beach. Mai Phai beach, along the full length covered by shady trees that grow especially thick at the southern end. The beach faces west, giving you to admire the sunsets. |

 The sun loungers under natural shade can be found in the northern end of Bamboo bay, near Bamboo Bay Resort's beachfront restaurant.
If you prefer full privacy - head to the south end,and all you need to relax on the soft sand is a mat or beach towel. Toilets are available in the restaurant.

As to culinary preferences - you will have a bit choice in Mai Phai beach. Only two restaurants, both beachfront and both just steps from the sea, and from each other. And what could be better than enjoying a food in the shade of magnificent trees, hissing sounds of the waves crashing on the shore, while your food cooling by sea breezes...romance.
Menu for real robinsons includes popular Thai dishes as well as seafood and some Western food. Here for a delicious food you can always get a perfect view of the beach, plenty of shade and of course a cold drink in your hand. If that's not enough - go to the nearby northern beaches - such as Kan Tiang, for example.

The lack of any development in this Koh Lanta location has resulted in Bamboo Bay survived only two hotels: Bamboo Bay Resort and Ban Phu Lae Bungalows. Both of resorts, if you can call that offer cheaply accommodation in private bungalows with private terraces and sea views. Each resort has a bar and a restaurant.
