Where to Eat in Ban Saladan
|
Ban Saladan is the main town of Koh Lanta, quite small in size but has a high concentration of restaurants and cafés located a few steps from each other. Most restaurants are located on both sides of the main road itself in Saladan or stand on stilts stretching across the channel separating Lanta from neighboring island. Most fresh seafood on Koh Lanta during the day can be found in these seaside restaurants with sea views + fresh breezes.
In the evening, Ban Saladan is the main alternative to a beach restaurants. Here the menu features a wide range of dishes available meet all budgets and tastes. Saladan during high season can be very crowded and some famous restaurants fill up quite quickly. Be aware that most restaurants do not accept reservations, so come early to avoid disappointment. |

Catfish |
The facade of this restaurant is a used bookstore that sells a wide range of books in many languages. At the rear there is a small, but cute cafe on stilts in the sea.
'Homemade food' - the best way to describe their cuisine, all freshly prepared, including pancakes, salads and fruit shakers, at low prices. A good place to be at sunset.

Saladan street food |
You should definitely try the Thai street food. Street vendors typically occupying the right side of the roadway before entering the village, offer an incredible range of delicious delicacies ranging from simple chicken with rice and ending with fragrant curry. This Thai cooking at its best and cheapest food.
Stalls food standing closer to 7/11, selling delicious snacks, pancakes, roti, fried fish, calamari, shrims by very low prices and usually place late at night.

The Frog |
Before entrance of the restaurant usually set their extensive wine collection, as well as a large wine cellar there are other attractive labels. Go up the stairs and in front of you the chic restaurant with a beautiful garden behind. Modern bistro, Frog caters to western tastes and limited Thai menu with high quality, but at high prices. Be sure to try them tenderloin and burgers, and this is one of the few places on the island, serving a wide range of quality wines at reasonable prices.
Excellent choice for a special occasion, but during the high season and advance booking is recommended.

Black Pearl |
Already advanced since opening in 2011, Black Pearl has a magnificent sea views and is very popular with the swedes people since it serves traditional swedish food (try the swedish meatballs), as well as other popular european dishes (primarily Italian and Thai food.
Cooking is pretty good quality, but expensive for Lanta, especially Thai food and there is a good selection of wines.

Lanta Pizzeria |
Located in the centre of Ban Saladan and extending out over the sea, Lanta Pizzeria perfect place for observing the coming and going of vessels. The restaurant serves hot, thin-crust pizzas baked in a wood-fired oven at reasonable prices.
On the menu besides pizza there is a wide selection of Thai dishes, salads and snacks.

Baan Café |
Serving customers of many dive-centers, shops and hotels it is quite a small cafe sells bread, biscuits and pastries. A popular choice for breakfasts and lunches thanks to its proximity to the ferry pier, the fresh sea breezes and reasonable prices for real coffee, fruit shakers, sandwiches, chocolate croissants and pancakes makes this place perfect day hangout.

Lanta Seafood |
It's probably the most famous restaurant on the island, popular with both tourists and local residents who often come here in large groups. Lanta Seafood has a nice view along thу sea, but very simple inside. Do not pay attention to the atmosphere and serves a delicious and cheap Thai food, and in the evenings in front of the entrance set showcase BBQ where you can choose your favorite dish and method of cooking.
Because of its popularity during the high season we recommend you to come here until 20:00, which would take the best table.

This Danish cafe located in the heart of Ban Saladan is an excellent place to stop for a drink, ice cream or Danish buffet. You can dine outside and watch the street or to cool inside air-conditioned.

Right in Saladan's centre open from early morning when the locals come here for breakfast, Sala Lanta serves well-cooked Thai food especially their popular curry, which is very specific.
Thai food is well presented, tasty and cheap, and simple international dishes.

Papa's |
Here, in this beautiful restaurant on stilts decorated with flowers, there are really a wide variety of dishes, many convenient dining places, and even when the venue becomes full you can find a good place.
Papa's relatively expensive for Koh Lanta but the side dishes are very generous and their pizzas and steaks wonderfully tasty.
