Trekking in the jungle and mountain hiking is one of the gifts of Koh Chang island, the territory of which 80% are mountains and rainforest. In Koh Chang jungle there are more than 60 species of birds and over 30 species of animals: deer, wild boar, leaf monkeys, macaques. On the island to be unique and 'Koh Chang Frog' you can not found anywhere else in the world.

Most of Koh Chang island areas is surrounded by steep hills and rugged tropical rain forest. There are many rare plants and trees and is home to various species of wild animals. The area of the island declared a national park, but welcomes travelers who are ready by foot to explore its wild interior. There are several interesting routes on Koh Chang. Some routes such as climbing Salak Phet mountain require the permission of National Park administration.
One of the popular hiking destinations in Koh Chang's west coast starts from Klong Son bay and goes to Kai Bae beach. In the northern part of the island you can travel from Ban Klong Son to Had Sai Khao (White Sand Beach).
But the best routes are located in the southern part of Koh Chang, where you will be able to see the pristine rain forest and waterfalls. There is a path connecting Ban Klong Phrao, located on the western coast with Klong Mayom waterfall on the east walk which will take 6-8 hours. |

Here are some of the suggested routes:
- Klong Phlu waterfall is the largest on the island. Its powerful stream runs all year round. This magnificent waterfall is an ideal place to explore the wildlife. It is located in the Central part of the island on the road to Klong Phrao beach. Tourists are advised to leave their transportee tool in the national Park office, then go 500 meters up to reach the waterfall. Along the way you can meet allsoe number of rare tropical plants, wild orchids, and various species of ferns.
- Thara Mayom waterfall is located on Koh Chang east coast along the route Dan Mai - Salak Phet. Tourists are advised to leave their transportee tool in the national Park office, and walk 200 meters along a stream through a plantation of fruit trees. This waterfall is the most beautiful during the rainy season.
- Kiri Phet waterfall rushes down the slope of the same mountain which is the highest peak on the island.
In addition to these three, there are also other small waterfalls scattered around the island and located near the beaches of Hat Klong Son, Hat Sai Khao and Hat Kaibae.
