Haad Salad beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Koh Phangan with its excellent emerald water quality. It's encompassed on all sides by jungle-covered mountains and there's a large coral reef in 'Pirates' lagoon. Never overloaded, even in high season, Haad Salad's usually popular with both families and couples.
Until last decade, Haad Salad beach with white soft sand and tall coconut trees stretched on the island north-west coast was sleepy and relatively deserted place, before hotels and bungalows opened the doors of our luxurious rooms, the entire length of its white beaches and surrounding lush hills.
All year round the water is a comfortable 28°C. The best time for swimming, with flat lake-like crystal-clear water invites you for a dip November to May. From June to October during the southwest monsoon period swells arise with rip tides.
In Haad Salad area you can find a tiny market, mini marts, restaurants and bars, ATM and money exchange, medical clinic, motorbike and jeep rental shops, the Internet, as well as travel agency. |

Getting there |
Many resorts offer free pick up/drop off so it makes sense to enquire when making a booking.
From Thong Sala: Located in the north of the island, Haad Salad is a 30 minutes by taxi (150 Bath/per) or ride by motorbike. Around Haad Salad you can rent a motorbike or car.
There are three ways to ride Haad Salad beach:
- from Thonsala along Koh Phangan west coast. This way is more tiresome;
- via Ao Chaloklum and Haad Mae Haad beach - too long;
- the road starts from Thong Sala's Tesco Lotus. Follow the road and turn left at sign to Salad Buri Resort and Spa. This easy way is the
more free traffic
and the most short. |

Haad Salad Beach Facilities |
There are no public toilets on Haad Salad beach but the many main resorts and beachfront restaurants have facilities, including beach
umbrellas,
showers and sunbeds for use by their guests.
Everywhere along the beach, there're a shaded patches, perfect for beach towels and Thai massage.
Some small tour counters can organize a longtail boat to go around the coast or the small Koh Maa island nearby. There are some taxi boat here ready to get you to other beaches of the island.
If you are not healthy, there is Haad Salad Clinic behind the beach near Hope Bungalow. Quality medical services include first aid, wound dressing, vaccination, eye-ear irrigation and nursing care. |

A large number of the restaurants and bars with reasonable priced are installed under the trees at beachfront resorts. On the menu is mainly feature pizza, Thai food, western favorites and seafood.
It is possible to order sandwiches, ice creams, cut fruit and a range of drinks that includes beer, soft drinks and juices directly from the beachside restaurants, so you don't even have to interrupt your tanning.

Haad Salad Beach Activities |
Some of the best snorkeling in Koh Phangan can be found around Haad Salad beach. Snorkeling opportunities stretch all the way till Haad Mae Haad beach. The impressive reef only 100 metres offshore that is popular as snorkelling
and scuba diving
site to explore the marine life with colorful tropical fish and enjoy the pictures of hard corals. Masks and fins can be rented easily on the beach or bought at the nearby shops. Pirate Diving school are available in Haad Salad beach.
Kayaks can be hired and is popular with nerby Haad Thian West beach a short distance away and only accessible through the hotels. Haad Mae Haad beach is a little further but within reach if kayaking. The fee for renting a kayak: 200 Bath/hour, 500 Bath/half-day, 800 Bath/day.
Throughout the length several salas have been set up for Thai massage at the top of the beach. Massage on the beach

from 250-400 Bath/hour,
other kinds of massage and reflexology are also available. Jeng's restaurant, near Asia Bungalows give Thai cooking classes based on North-East Thailand (Issan) cusine. |

Scuba diving is another activity that’s offered by the dive operators in Haad Salad beach. Pirate Divers shop is located at northern end of the beach, next door to Reggae Bar & Restaurant. The 5 star Dive Center offers PADI cources and dive trips to the best dive sites around Koh Tao and Koh Phangan islands - the 'Sail Rock' is most popular. The shop also sells a qualitative dive equipment. open hours: 10:00 - 19:00

France Plongee is 5* PADI Diving Center located near the main road close to Haadsalad Guesthouse. The diving school provides standard PADI courses and has a swimming pool for learning to dive. The dive masters provide a one on one guide for those who decide to take up on the offer, so that those who have never dived before can do so. Diving and snorkeling equipment for rent is available, and also
dive trips on the offer every day.

The marine area south of Haad Salad beach near Lucky Resort is good spot for fascinating fishing right from the rocky shore. Alternatively you can order fishing tour wwith locals fishermans, who will be happy to show you the best fishing spots.

Haad Salad beach enjoys good weather all year round but the best time to go from November to April - a great season to soak the sun and to swim. When low tide (May-September) is difficult to find a place for swimming - shallow waters, nevertheless this time is perfect for kids enjoying splashing in warm sea. |
