 Tucked away on Koh Chang's west coast, Kai Bae beach offers full isolation from other beaches and is connected to the other part of the island by main road. Divided into some areas with picturesque mountain scenery in the background, Kai Bae beach is surrounded by a quiet and homely atmosphere making it an ideal choice for families and romantic couples.
Compared with White Sand beach and Klong Prao, Kai Bae beach seems to be less attractive, but the significant fact that the place is a wonderful combination of comfort, peace, quiet and a small number of tourists, still attracted by its beaches share of savvy travelers. |

 How to Get to Kai Bae beach
|
 Kai Bae beach is located on the west coast of Koh Chang isalnd, to the south of Klong Prao Beach. You can get here by taxi from Dan-Kao-Pier or Centerpoint pier for 30-35 minutes Price per trip 120 Bath.
The road passes close to the coast and rises up in a southern direction, where the jungle-covered mountains meet the sea. Now built a bypass road passing behind Kai Bae village. There are many restaurants, bars, petrol station, shops, mini markets, pharmacies, massage parlors and Internet cafes in Ban Kai Bae. |

The Beach |
 Kai Bae beach, surrounded on both ends of the high rocky tips is divided into 3 parts: the northern and central part is about one kilometer each, while south just in front of Koh Man Nai island approximately 300 meters long. Like all beaches on the west coast Kai Bae is flat but not always suitable for swimming. In the dry months and during low tides, you need long enough to go from the shore to find the depth. The beach is not far from Koh Cang main road. More than half of the coast shrouded hanging over the water, palm trees, giving a beautiful shade and coolness of being a great place for family fun and picnics.
In the northern part, right opposite Cliff resort and Chang Park resort the beach is the widest and more devoid of vegetation, which successfully replace the beach/pool umbrellas. As it approaches The Chill Resort and Gajapuri Resort gradually tapering shore begins to please the eye with lush vegetation that provides excellent shade. The southern part of Kai Bae beach separated from the northern by rocky cape is quite wide and can offer more space. Here you will find a great choice of affordable housing and some good beachfront restaurants. |
Kai Bae beach Facilities |
 Resorts and hotels in Kai Bae beach, like most other Koh Chang beaches provide their guests with basic amenities: toilets, sun loungers, towels, hammocks, swings and some sports equipment like football, volleyball and Frisbee. While these things are usually free, with other beach goers require a small fee. There is an abundance of beach massage huts offering traditional Thai massage and foot massage. |

 Everywhere along the beach, every day, up and down, offering his goods: silk, clothing, tattoos, jewelry, ornaments and all sorts of trinkets walking with his hard burden - beach vendors. Sometimes the type and price of the offered items will make you angry or laugh out loud. Polite 'Mai Au' is all that is needed, what would you be left alone.

 Because in the area there are no beach food vendors, restaurants and cafes along the beach seems to be the only source of food and drinks in Kai Bae. If you have a certain dislike for street food, dishes from restaurants nearby - probably will be your best choice. However, many eateries and food stalls can be detected along the side of the main road. Moreover, these gastronomic places with delicious food they are also very cheap.
Simple sandwiches, their components and snacks can be easily found in the local village in mini-marts selling both local and imported food products.

 At the southern end of Kai Bae beach, the road leading to the Bang Bao Bay starts a steep climb and a hundred meters away you'll be on viewpoint which offers fantastic views of the surrounding Islands.
The history of Kai Bae village says that several Thai fishermen lived around the island, and most of this population consists mainly of immigrants arrived to Koh Chang by sea from southern China. They decided to stay in this place, because of the large number of edible animals and beautiful nature, having decided that the island will completely satisfy their needs. Later, some generations and the patriarch of the family, which occupied most of the space in Kai Bae area decided to divide the land among their heirs. The children received valuable internal farmland where they could grow rubber, collect coconuts, bananas, etc. Four unsuccessful child, which must have upset the father of the family at some point in their lives, have received virtually useless, barren land by the sea.
Then, in the mid 80-th here there were some enterprising tourists ask the locals to obtain a residence permit, but frivolous family lived near the beach allowed people to stay is free or just 20 Bath/night. Gossip quickly spread the news to friends and soon on Kai Bae opened the first gueshouse. The rest, as they say is history, and the beachfront resorts in Kai Bae all still belong to the same family, and they make good buisness, that was twenty years ago considered worthless land.
The oldest resident of Koh Chang island also lives here, as well as the mother and grandmother of many of the families that recognize the right of ownership most of the land and many of the hotels in the area. Grandma thinks that she is 108 years, although members of her family are not exactly sure about her age.

 No matter what you like to do, you are guaranteed that you will find suitable form of activities in Kai Bae beach. A wide range of leisure activities from simple idleness on the sand, soaking tropical sun, kayaking, reading a good book in paperback, relaxing in the hammock, a fun picnic and other diverse and fun sports.
Alternatively, you can swim in the sea, buy diving tour, get a massage, play all family in mini golf or simply walking along the beach and collect shells (especially at low tide) are some of the most ways to spend your precious time. Animal lovers will find in the southern end of the village, 50m from the main road Kai Bae Meechai Elephant camp and there is a wonderful place where from the beach you can admire the sunsets.

 Affects the development of the tourism industry in Kai Bae beach, compared to the northern part of White Sand Beach, Klong Prao beach or Lonely Beach. And yet the setting is a good compromise between crowded with tourists, comfortable White Sand Beach and independent, consisting of thatched huts Lonely Beach, all mixed with a small community of local villagers.
Most of the hotels, such as Siam Cottage offers affordable housing. For this you get wooden bungalows, water 24 hours a day, your hut has glass in the windows, leak proof roof as well as the cleanliness and convenience. Good places offered in KB Resort ( formerly known as KB Bungalows) and Kai Bae Beach Bungalows (has an excellent restaurant on the shore). Both have rooms with fan and air conditioning. Coral Resort is also a good choice, mainly because of the large pool and great views. Most bungalows have satellite TV. Two large resort at the northern end of the beach is occupied and Chang Cliff beach Park. Both have long settled here. Some rooms are good and some require reconstruction. Cliff Beach mostly prefer couples and Chang Park noisy family. If you decide to stay at Sea View Resort - without personal transport, you can not do.
The road-side offers a standard set of heterogeneous restaurants, beer bars, tailors shop, Internet café, manicure halls, etc., In the far northern end of the beach, opposite Cliff Beach Resort was built quite terrible lane with shops, restaurants and bars. On the opposite side of the street there are many mini-marts, each with an area of no more than 8 or 9 sq m situated near a small crazy golf course and opposite the two rarely visited beer bar.
Just to the South, '339 Avenue' offers to do a little shopping experiment. Shops along the roadside, Italian and Indian restaurants, a bookshop, shop beachwear and so on. Moving to the South, you'll find the first of two 7/11, clusters of shops selling identical beach clothes, small restaurants and part of the road where there are half a dozen shops-Atelier. Also in this area is Kai Bae Wine Gallery where you can stock up on good imported wine and beer.
In the Central part of the beach you will find a popular hotel for a family holiday - Gajapuri Resort, which is adjacent to a cheap 800 rooms Bath/night in Siam Cottage. Next design another newly built 5 star AWA Resort Koh Chang and French restaurant Fredo's, as well as several small cafes, including the new Rock Sugar where serving Thai and Western cuisine along with live music. Live performance musicians can be enjoyed on the opposite side of the road in Garden Resort, hidden behind 7\11 and offering guests magnificent bungalows, swimming pool and restaurant. Opposite 7\11 there is a driveway to the KB Hut, and if you need to rent a boat, you should head there.
And if you were on the South side of the beach near Kai Bae Marina is not a yacht club, but they make great pizza and delicious European food, plus a small home theater with a wide selection of movies. The next door will lead you to a small roadside shopping plaza called Moccachino - here high speed Internet and great coffee, and generally perfect place for morning conversations.
For lovers of cheap food, 40 Bath for the dish in Kai Bae has three seats. 'Pak Pao Noodles' is in a separate building to south LaLuna guesthouse opposite rotation to Gajapuri, renovated 4 star boutique resort. The owner speaks excellent English and fluent in French offering to try his brand recipe spa noodles imported from Northern Thailand. (On weekends, the place is filled with Thais). Moving further south, turn in Kai Bae Hut Resort and 20 meters down the road, you will find the restaurant on the left side. It is also great noodles and everything else Thai menu.
Another place for budget meal - from Lek Diner go south, past O2 about 50 meters... near the entrance to the restaurant is set for the phone and hangs the sign "Thai food"...part of the restaurant, where the owners now opened a Print Studio. There is always great food, menu has about 100 different points + western food...and there is a menu in English.
