 Koh Lanta is a lovely island with beautiful beaches, magical sunsets and emerald jungle. This is the place where people come back again and again.  Koh Lanta's north-west coast is the area where the most visitors to the island prefer to spend their vacation, because this place is concentrated the largest variety of hotels, restaurants and bars, as well as the main passenger pier taking ferries from Phuket, Krabi, Koh Lipe, Langkawi and Phi Phi. As Klong Dao and Long beach (Phra Ae) have beautiful sandy beaches and fantastic sunsets, and the range of resorts starts from hotels with five stars and boutique resorts to budget bungalows, while Klong Kong beach mainly attracts crowds of backpackers.
However, despite being the most populated area in high season there is still simply to find a quiet spot to take a walk alone along the beach. The highway connecting all the beaches on the West coast of the island is replete with a wide selection of restaurants and bars and is the only private medical clinic and dentist. Staying in the north you will never be removed from all temptations more than 10 minutes. |

Koh Lanta's South-West beaches |
 The southern half west beaches of Koh Lanta if I may say so, even more relaxing than the north. A large proportion of the muslim population means less hedonic scene nightlife and high quality service, and boutique hotels in this part of the island were built here simply because of the fantastic beaches. Some visitors to Koh Lanta find the south a little more expensive than the north thanks to the lower number of restaurants and high standards of local hotels.
Klong Nin beach and Kantiang beach are the two main beaches in the southern part of Koh Lanta where the first one takes a more northern position of being in a 10-minute drive from the southern neighbor. Klong Nin is quickly becoming the main competitor of the pier where as here every year new hotels, bars, restaurants and shops, while Kan Tiang beach is still a small idyllic village limited by the size of the Bay.
However, if you want absolute privacy head south from Kan Tiang beach to one of the last three beaches on the island. The road in this part of Koh Lanta has already been finished, and to get there you no need to rent a four-wheel drive auto/motobike. |
