 The travel to the island is complete without a visit to Baan Saladan, the capital of Koh Lanta. This is certainly not the biggest city you've ever seen in Thailand, but Ban Saladan is attractive for its buildings on stilts standing in the sea and it is a major center of commercial activity on the island. Located at the north end of Ko Lanta a small town is connected by road with the rest of the island and filled with banks, restaurants, shops, diving centres and travel agents. Here you will find a post office, police, hotels, main ferry pier to Koh Lanta and much more.
Based in the centre of the T-junction with only four or five passable roads, Lanta's capital will not take you much time. Saladan adopted from the Old Town responsibilities the main port of the island and is the main starting point for the passenger ferry to Krabi, Phi Phi, Phuket and Koh Lipe. In recent years, however, the town has proved that in addition to the transport hub, there is much to do and see with the recent improvements along the beach and the huge growth of cheap hotels
and budget accommodation in and near the town. |

 Ban Saladan restaurants |
|
 Ban Saladan is the main town of Koh Lanta, quite small in size but has a high concentration of restaurants and cafes located a few steps from each other. Most restaurants are located on both sides of the main road itself in Saladan or stand on stilts stretching across the channel separating Lanta from neighboring island. Most fresh seafood on Koh Lanta during the day can be found in these seaside restaurants with sea views + fresh breezes.

| Ban Saladan shopping |
|
 If you dream of a mad shopping - Koh Lanta is probably not the best place to buy but the town being so small makes the shopping is pretty banal. There are many banks, along with the post office, approximately 10 optical shops, the largest supermarket on the island, souvenir and clothing shops selling T-shirts, as well as galleries.

| Ban Saladan nightlife |
|
 Starting from 19:00 onwards when the heat subsides Ban Saladan is becoming crowded, filled by tourists flowing to the shops, restaurants and bars. Surprisingly however that the nightlife of the pier where it grew up with tourism, as most visitors prefer to go to the beach or in the hotel to finish your evening.
