How to Get to Koh Lanta

From Bangkok, Krabi Airport, Phuket, Ao Nang, Phi Phi Island

 The island is easily accessible both by land and by sea, depending on your departure point. There are several ways to get Koh Lanta from Bangkok, Krabi Airport, Phuket, Phi Phi, Ao Nang or Trang.
All regular ferries and buses arrive in the main town of Baan Saladan in Koh Lanta.

 From Bangkok to Koh Lanta
|
 The nearest airports to Koh Lanta are located in Krabi and Trang. Krabi international Airport is located 15 km from the capital of Krabi province. As the main air gateway to the province in 2006 at Krabi airport was opened international terminal. From Krabi Airport flights to Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, as well as in some cities of Thailand and south-east Asia.

Direct regular bus services between Bangkok and Koh Lanta - does not exist. Bus trips from Khao San road through Krabi are available in high season, followed by transfer by bus or ferry.

By a Car to Koh Lanta |
 By car follow from Krabi route 4 towards Trang, then near the village of Huay Nam Khao take the road No. 4206, and go straight to the cargo ferry pier. To get to Koh Lanta Yai you need to first get to the smaller Koh Lanta Noi island and then again on the second cargo ferry to Koh Lanta Yai. Ferries between islands and the mainland runs daily every 10 min, starting from 06:00-18:30. Fare one way 20 bath/person+motorbike and 70 Batt/car.
Today under construction is a new bridge that will connect soon Koh Lanta Yai with the mainland. |

From Phuket to Koh Lanta |
From Phuket travel by sea directly is not possible. You need first get to Phi Phi isalnd and then cross the boat directly to Koh Lanta. Passenger ferries run from Phuket's Ratsada Pier from october to the end of june (depending on the weather) and take about 3 hours. Some routes looped through Ao Nang and Railay beach. The ferry runs twice a day and costs 800 baht (400 baht from Phi Phi). Passenger ferries from Phi Phi to Koh Lanta follow next to Lipe and Langkawi.
From Phuket Town to Koh Lanta you can get by bus run daily and take about four-five hours. All the buses are air conditioned and very cheap (about 400 baht) and can be booked at any tour operator. |

From Krabi |
A regular passenger ferry runs twice daily (November to April) from Khlong Chilat pier located approximately three kilometres west of the centre Krabi town. The journey by sea two hours, the ticket price is 200 Bath. This trip has links to Railay Bay and Koh Jum via a long-tail boat connection. Many hotels in Krabi town offer a convenient transfer to the pier.
Throughout year public minibuses run between Krabi and Koh Lanta. The journey time is two to three hours, the ticket price is 250 bath. You can get tickets for any tour operator in Krabi town. |

From Ao Nang to Koh Lanta |
From Ao Nang during the high season (November-may) daily runs three trips to Koh Lanta. Comfortable minibuses leave Ao Nang at 09:00; 11:00; 16:00. Travel time is 2 hours, the ticket price is 290 Bath. From Ao Nang to Koh Lanta runs a passenger ferries also. Daily trip departs at 10:30, travel time 2 hours, the ticket price is 470 Bath. In high season has an additional trip at 15:30. |

From Phi Phi to Koh Lanta |
Koh Lanta lies on the west coast of the Andaman Sea, in between Krabi and the Phi Phi Islands. The ferries, high-speed catamarans and speedboats run daily from Phi Phi to Koh Lanta. From Trang to Koh Lanta |
| Regular minibuses depart daily for Koh Lanta from a small shop opposite the train station in Trang Town. The travel takes about 2.5 hours in an air-conditioned minibus. During high season there are additional buses. Tickets for these trips can be booked at a local travel agency. |
